2.6.22's
linux is out since enough days to have a stable patchset. This time, the only candidate suitable for me seems to be the
kamikaze patchset: it contains in particular suspend2, gentoo's gensplash, the new uvesafb.
Uploaded to:
deb http://jeandamiendurand.free.fr/debian/kernel sid main
deb-src http://jeandamiendurand.free.fr/debian/kernel sid main
If you want to use vesafb then you'll need the
uvesafb's v86d helper:
deb http://jeandamiendurand.free.fr/debian/v86d sid contrib
deb-src http://jeandamiendurand.free.fr/debian/v86d sid contrib
Works well for me (I observed sometimes a hang at boot but I do not know if it is because of uvesafb), enjoy.
With uvesafb.
Note: I found two errors in the patchset: the kernel extension in the top Makefile is kamikaze3 instead of kamikaze4, and the sound/oss/Makefile patch should be reverted. Just in case you would like to compile it yourself - who knows.
EDIT: say CONFIG_FB_UVESA=y instead of m -; v86d rwill then start automatically.
EDIT2: Oups, I compiled both vesafb-tng and uvesafb in the kernel.
this must not be like that. One or the other. I am doing another build using
kamikaze5 patchset.
With uvesafb.
