Sadly, the linux
beyond patchset is
discontinued. The only thing that comes truely to my mind is to yell enormous thanks to its author, iphitus! Thank you, really, your patchset made it for a lot of people.
Since I cannot leave without a patchset, I switched to what I believe is the closest to the beyond one, i.e. the nicus patchset, again something herited from gentoo (I wonder if I should not switch to this distro!).
Now, I was a bit stuck because of my Belkin Wireless card: With an SMP kernel, rt2570 stopped being compilable, and only ndiswrapper was reliable. And since kernel 2.6.20, latest ndiswrapper simply stopped working! So I switched back to a single cpu kernel, and to the rt2570 driver.
I have putted this i386 single-cpu kernel in debian packages, you can fetch them at:
deb http://jeandamiendurand.free.fr/debian/kernel sid main

What's great? fbsplash still works, and damned! suspend2 rocks, effectively using disk acceleration: my desktop hibernates in less than 10 seconds, resumes in less than 10 seconds. simply beautiful. With the beyond kernel for 2.6.20 acceleration was not on for suspend2. I do not know if that was simply a suspend2 patch or a configuration issue. Oh well.
